About the RoleThe Quality Assurance (QA) Technician has the primary responsibility for protecting the food by conducting food safety and quality sampling, testing, and documentation to meet all regulatory, customer and Pure's Foods requirements.
Responsibilities- Ensure compliance with all applicable food regulations (international, national, state, and local).
- Perform sampling, testing, and documentation of procedures, records, GMPs, and HACCP.
- Maintain safety, legality, and quality of food and processes used in manufacture.
- Meet and exceed customer requirements and reduce customer/consumer complaints.
- Report food safety and quality issues to supervisor.
- Hold product based on food safety or quality non‑conformance.
- Participate in daily food evaluations to identify possible defects.
- Conduct weekly physical bakery inspections (pest control, operational methods, maintenance for food safety, sanitation, personnel practices, etc.).
- Select food items for analysis at specified stages in the production process.
- Use instrumentation such as thermometers, metal detectors, ray devices, calculators, scales, gauges, calipers, rulers, moisture analyzers, ovens, ATP system.
- Assure materials are received from approved suppliers and monitor raw material supplier performance.
- Print finished food case labels as appropriate.
- Communicate QA issues with production supervisors and QA technicians during shift changes.
- Oversee and manage other QA technicians, as assigned.
- Work different shifts, including weekends.
- High School Diploma; some college science courses or experience in the food industry.
- Training in HACCP and a Global Food Safety Initiative standard such as BRC or SQF.
- Effective work ethic and good communication skills.
- Proficiency in writing, mathematics, and critical thinking.
- Experience with computers, including spreadsheets.
- Ability to climb, stand, or walk for extended periods; lift up to 50 pounds; work near moving mechanical parts; tolerate moderate to loud noise and varying weather conditions.

- Using a computer keyboard/monitor over 25% of total work time.
- Lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
- Working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to weather, fumes, airborne particles, extreme cold.
- Moderate to loud noise environment.
