JOB SUMMARYThe Sales Operations Manager, Power & Energy, leads and manages both the Project Management and Sales Representative teams within Ohio CAT’s Power & Energy core business. This role is responsible for ensuring that both teams have the tools, resources, and support needed to excel, while driving operational excellence, sales growth, and process improvement. This manager will oversee sales operations, foster employee development, and implement strategies that align with Ohio CAT’s strategic vision, revenue targets, and margin goals.
Position based in Ohio CAT’s Broadview Heights headquarters location outside of Cleveland.
Minimum 2-years experience as a senior level Project Manager or Sales Manager in the Power & Energy industry.
College degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction management, or related field preferred.
Strong professionalism, customer and communication skills.
Industry expertise in heavy machinery, power systems, and Caterpillar preferred.
Positive working attitude is a must, as the role collaborates internally with other departments, as well as with external customers, vendors and CAT personnel.
Candidate should possess a strong business acumen with the ability to provide guidance and direction to a technical sales team building relationships and growing market share.
Proficiency with Microsoft software suite (Excel, One Drive, Teams)
An ideal candidate has previous experience in project planning, sales forecasting, CRM tools and project management applications
Proactive thinking, process improvement and time management are highly valued attributes.
KEY COMPETENCIESLead and develop a team of Project Managers and Sales Representatives through goal setting, project oversight and professional growth.
Manage Power & Energy sales reps by assigning accounts, approving contracts, executing sales strategies and driving.
Serve as a resource for pre-sales engineering support, reviewing specifications and supporting the bid process as a manager and technical advisor for the department.
Assign projects to project managers to balance workloads and ensure effective coverage for project management activities; participate in customer meetings and site visits as needed.
Oversight on Power & Energy project and sales expenses, inventory control, and asset management.
Act as liaison between Project Management, Sales Representatives, and other Ohio CAT departments to drive collaboration and communication.
Ensure adherence to and efficient execution of the Sales Order Process, including accountability for project and sales tracking, and leading regular team meetings.
Champion a continuous improvement mindset, driving consistency in process execution, terminology, and deliverables across Power Systems Sales and Project Management teams.
Develop and maintain onboarding and training curriculum for new hires and ongoing professional development for both Project Managers and Sales Representatives.
Collaborate with Sales Reps to forecast equipment orders with OEMs, vendors, and CAT; support sales pipeline management and reporting.
Advise the Power Systems Sales Director on technology, tools, and best practices for both sales and project management.
