Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Wall & Floor Tiling Tutor to deliver high‑quality vocational training to learners at HMP Brixton. You will teach small groups, helping individuals develop practical tiling skills, technical knowledge, and positive workplace behaviours that support rehabilitation and progression into employment.
This role is well‑suited to someone with strong trade experience, a passion for teaching, and the ability to inspire learners who may have had limited prior education. You will design tailored learning plans, deliver engaging sessions, and support learners to achieve accredited qualifications.

Key Responsibilities
Vocational Delivery & Learner Support

* Deliver accredited Wall & Floor Tiling training up to Level 2.

* Develop personalised learning plans based on individual starting points and aspirations.

* Prepare and deliver structured lesson plans covering tiling techniques, surface preparation, adhesives & grouts, cutting methods, measuring, and health & safety.

* Motivate and encourage learners to improve attendance, achievement, and confidence.

* Provide constructive feedback and adapt teaching methods according to learner needs.
Programme Administration & Compliance

* Accurately complete all learner documentation, including ILPs, registers, progress reviews, and awarding‑body evidence.

* Maintain high standards of safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and data protection.

* Work to all contractual KPIs, quality benchmarks, and inspection requirements.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

* Work closely with colleagues, prison staff, and education teams to support learner progression.

* Contribute to curriculum development and enhancements across the provision.

* Participate in quality assurance, standardisation, and staff development activities.

Essential Criteria

* Level 2 qualification in Wall & Floor Tiling.

* Significant trade experience within tiling or wider construction.

* Experience delivering vocational training or workplace instruction.

* Ability to engage learners using a variety of teaching methods.

* Strong communication, organisational, and time‑management skills.

* Understanding of safeguarding, equality, health & safety, and data protection.
Desirable Criteria

* Teaching or assessing qualification (or willingness to work towards).

* Experience delivering training in secure or custodial environments.

* Experience developing curriculum content or working with awarding bodies.

* Knowledge of the OFSTED Education Inspection Framework (EIF)
