Store Manager Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead in a multi‑unit capacity.
  • Provide and model best‑in‑class guest service, greet guests promptly, handle guest questions and concerns, inform guests of special promotions, recommend additional items, and apply all selling behaviors during every transaction.
  • Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that drive sales and repeat business.
  • Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the Point‑of‑Sale (POS) system.
  • Promote Game Stop’s guest benefits such as the new title reservation program, trade‑in program, and Pro Rewards guest loyalty program.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, assess, develop, and retain high‑performing associates.
  • Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing a shift.
  • Communicate regularly with store associates and District Manager to ensure implementation of store initiatives.
  • Schedule store associates, ensuring compliance with scheduling guidelines and accounting for breaks and meals.
  • Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify all associate time worked.
  • Provide timely and appropriate recognition and feedback to associates.
  • Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandised per company guidelines.
  • Ensure Omni‑Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily.
  • Perform inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise, and move product from the stockroom to the front of the store.
  • Protect company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices.
  • Lead the store team in meeting or exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals.
  • Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals and complete daily bank deposits.
  • Verify shipments for discrepancies, record any discrepancies, conduct merchandise counts, and communicate issues to District Manager.
  • Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately.
  • Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety and report injuries promptly.
  • Maintain store records/files in an organized manner.
  • Form professional partnerships with military personnel on assigned military base (if applicable).
  • Consistently adhere to all Game Stop policies, procedures, the Associate Handbook, and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
Qualifications
  • Proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Minimum age 18 years.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.
  • At least 1 year of retail management experience required.
  • At least 3 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management/leadership experience preferred.
  • Video game knowledge preferred.

  • Lift merchandise up to 30 lbs. and perform basic physical tasks.
  • Understand military ranks and insignia if working on a military base (if applicable).
