Volunteer Engagement Manager Bristol | Full-Time, Permanent | £32,000 – £35,000 per annum
We are partnering with a well-established, values-led hospice charity to appoint a Volunteer Engagement Manager to lead a community-based service supporting people in their own homes.
This is a high-impact, people-facing role, focused on reducing isolation, strengthening independence, and providing practical and emotional support to patients through a network of trained volunteers.
You will take ownership of a growing community project, ensuring it delivers meaningful outcomes for patients, carers and volunteers while operating to high standards of safeguarding, governance and compassion.
What You’ll Be DoingService & Project Leadership
- Lead and develop a safe, effective and sustainable community support service
- Track progress, outcomes and KPIs, using insight to continuously improve delivery
- Ensure the service is aligned to strong organisational values and best practice
Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement
- Recruit, train and support a diverse network of community volunteers
- Build a motivated, well-supported volunteer community
- Provide clear guidance, supervision and ongoing development
Patient & Carer Support
- Assess individual needs and match patients with appropriate volunteer support
- Communicate sensitively with patients, families and carers
- Ensure dignity, respect and independence remain central to all activity
Partnership & Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with healthcare professionals, referral partners and local organisations
- Act as an ambassador for the service, raising awareness and strengthening referral pathways
Safeguarding & Compliance
- Ensure robust safeguarding, risk management and data protection practices
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with internal policies
This role will suit someone with experience in community, hospice, health, social care or voluntary sector services
, who combines compassion with structure and leadership.
You are likely to bring:
- Experience delivering or overseeing community-based projects or services
- Experience coordinating or managing volunteers
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Confidence leading, coaching and supporting others
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and risk management
- A values-led approach and genuine motivation to make a difference
Due to the nature of the role and organisation, the successful candidate will need to be able to travel on a regular basis across Bristol and the surrounding areas.
