Overview

We are recruiting for an Independent Non Medical Prescriber in South Bristol Assessment And Recovery Team.

We are a large team that covers south of Bristol area. We are a motivated, friendly and supportive team that are passionate about delivering evidence based interventions to the service users in our community.

We have a diverse service user population which includes the University of the West of England, Approved Premises and high levels of supported housing projects who support service users with complex emotional needs, forensic histories and service users subject to Ministry of Justice restrictions.

You will be well supported operationally by the Team Manager to enable you to thrive in your clinical role. You will also have the support from the highly experienced and stable team of Senior Practitioners at our Petherton office base.

Our office is situated at Petherton Road. We have free parking and access to pool cars and electric bikes for clinical staff to support easy access into the clean air zone and all areas of our community.

Main duties of the job

As an NMP you will work closely with the Consultant Psychiatrist and Senior Practitioner to demonstrate extensive clinical experience and knowledge to contribute to the MDT. You will be able to manage complex cases autonomously and provide supervision and support to junior staff. Your prescribing expertise will enable you to undertake assessments and prescribe independently within the team. You will ensure excellent clinical standards are maintained within the team and effective caseload management will be underpinned by robust supervision and leadership of clinical meetings.

Job responsibilities
  • Lead and inspire the team to deliver a high quality and effective recovery service for service users and carers.
  • Provide clinical leadership to work effectively alongside other services, manage risk and prevent hospital admission for complex and acute needs.
  • Undertake and support the specialist ongoing assessment of physiological and/or psychological functioning for service users with the most complex needs. This includes:
    • The use of standardised assessment tools, e.g. the Cluster Allocation Support Tool (CAST), KGV.
    • The Recovery Star.
    • History, strengths and aspirations.
    • Mental state.
    • Impact of culture and diversity.
    • Functional needs.
    • Needs of family and carer.
    • Evaluation of risk.
    • Physical health.
    • Complicating factors.
    • The interventions and treatments required to enable positive change.
    • Social care needs.
    • Safeguarding and public protection.
    • Capacity under the Mental Capacity Act.
  • Be responsible for developing, delivering and reviewing comprehensive and complex treatment programmes using appropriate frameworks in line with evidence-based practice, including managing risk for service users with complex needs and carers.
  • Coordinate care for a small number of service users and provide defined interventions to individuals on other workers’ caseloads.
