Medical Support Secretary - Cardiology

We have a part time vacancy to support the Cardiology Department in Bristol to provide an efficient and effective patient‑focused service. The successful applicant will support the Cardiology Consultants. Key tasks will include typing and transcription of clinical and correspondence letters, as well as sending out patient letters, monitoring e‑mail inboxes, uploading results, scanning and maintaining patient records.
Main duties of the jobThe role will work within the cardiology department supporting the senior secretaries and wider team to type clinical and correspondence letters. The role will also include supporting and communicating with patients and other professionals through emails and telephone calls.

Person Specification Knowledge and Experience- Experience of dealing with the public, both on the telephone and in person
- Clerical/administrative experience
- Previous NHS experience
- Effective and polite manner when dealing with people, both face to face and on the phone
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of accuracy
- Ability to work effectively in a busy team, adjust to change and motivate others
- Ability to work on your own, using your own initiative, if required
- Confidence to handle difficult conversations with patients, relatives and carers
- Ability to adapt to use new computer packages and programmes
- Effective organisational skills
- Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
