The RoleReporting to the General Manager, Working within the Transport Office, the HSQE Compliance Officer will take responsibility for overseeing UK company-wide compliance and HSQE systems.
This role requires someone who can work independently while collaborating closely with Operations, HR, drivers, customers, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee compliance across Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental functions
- Conduct internal audits in line with ISO standards
- Ensure adherence to transport legislation (driver hours, tachographs, fleet compliance)
- Prepare and maintain risk assessments and method statements (RAMS)
- Manage contractor compliance
- Work alongside HR to carry out investigations when required
- Fuel reporting and performance tracking
- Plan, source and update staff training records
- Communicate effectively with staff, customers, and suppliers
- Manage time effectively to meet operational and compliance deadlines
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent Health & Safety qualification)
- Knowledge and practical experience of:
- ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety)
- ISO 9001 (Quality Management)
- Transport-related compliance knowledge (fleet safety, driver hours, tachographs)
- Experience preparing and reviewing RAMS
- Valid UK driving licence (for site and depot visits)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Professional, customer-facing manner
- Experience with FORS and certification bodies such as JOSCAR, SSIP, Achilles
- Knowledge of incident investigation procedures (including RIDDOR reporting)
- OLAT Certification (Operator Licence Awareness Training)
- Experience with ESDAL (Electronic Service for Delivery of Abnormal Loads)
