Position: Fleet Maintenance Scheduler (Engineering)

Our Fleet Planning Manager has an opportunity for an enthusiastic, flexible and committed individual to join the Maintenance Scheduling team. The team are responsible for the maintenance scheduling and daily allocations for all GWR fleets ensuring depot capabilities are considered and time is managed effectively.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • To work with the Fleet Maintenance Controller, Train Service Controllers, Depot Colleagues and other Stakeholders
  • Communication of the Fleet Schedule to all areas of the business
  • To establish, schedule and achieve the maintenance requirements for GWR fleets in accordance with the depot capabilities and maintenance/material requirements, also scheduling for other TOCs where GWR have contracts.
  • Monitor and action changes to the real time stock workings to ensure delivery of the maintenance schedule.
  • To ensure schedules are met for fleet mileages including the supply of materials for scheduled exams as well as resource availability

You'll need to be:

  • An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills, together with the ability to remain calm under pressure when working in a busy and fluid environment.
  • IT literate with excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel.
  • Knowledge of GENIUS and Intergrale is desirable, although training can be provided.
  • Able to work well in a team and on your own and work well under pressure
  • A proactive individual who will build on the future and share improvement ideas for the benefit to colleagues, GWR and our customers
  • Able to work on own initiative and quickly react to and solve problems around maintenance scheduling.

As a minimum you'll need to have:

  • Previous experience of establishing and building relationships with customers.
  • Existing knowledge and skills in the use of Fleet Maintenance Management tools – R2 & IFMS.
  • Understanding of GWR fleet types and areas of operation.
  • Willingness to learn and contribute to improving the service
  • An understanding of the railway and knowledge of GWR areas
  • Excellent attention for detail
  • Flexibility to work shifts including weekends & nights and some short notice extended hours in times of disruption
  • Railway experience will be advantageous

Additional Information:

This position will require working shifts and weekends and possibly some nights. This role will be based at St Philips Marsh Depot in Bristol although flexibility will be required to work in Swindon and at other depot locations when required.
