Oracle Fusion Applications (FA) is Oracle's leading SaaS offering of critical business applications like ERP, HCM, CRM and more. The basic architecture is based on a monolithic, on-premise Fusion Middleware stack, and the team is working to solve this challenge.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is the world's leading enterprise-class cloud platform. We build and operate cloud services at scale to meet customer needs, including Oracle's Cloud (SaaS) Applications. OCI enables customers to run demanding workloads in a secure and highly available cloud environment.

Fusion Apps Technical Architecture team is defining the next-generation architecture (codename Spectra) for Fusion Applications, based on cloud-native principles and running on OCI. The migration from monolith to a modern microservice architecture opens opportunities to work with state-of-the-art technologies and OCI services. This is a startup-style team with service ownership and potential for broad impact across the organization. The developer toolkit includes:
Java, REST, Docker, Kubernetes, microservices, Grafana, and more.

Senior Software Engineer (IC3). You will be a strong engineer with solid coding skills, capable of working at multiple levels of the stack in an agile, distributed environment. You should communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders across locations and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. We value teamwork, willingness to learn, and a proactive approach to helping the team succeed.

• Develop features based on given requirements and use cases.
• Collaborate with peers to review designs and implementations with a focus on metric-driven results.
• Write quality backend code with validation tests in languages such as Java and Python.
• Work with cloud-native technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, and gRPC.
• Ensure safe and compliant release management across stages.
• Operate the service in production, implementing operational improvements.
• Analyze and debug issues, including bugs and performance problems.
• Coach or mentor junior team members.
• Foster an inclusive, diverse environment and healthy work culture.
• Provide production support across time zones as part of an on-call rotation, drive incident resolution, and contribute to root cause analysis and product improvements.

Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Track record of delivering complex, technically challenging projects.
• Proficiency in modern Java (17+) and scripting languages such as Python.
• 3+ years of REST API development and HTTP experience.
• Solid knowledge of microservices, data structures, algorithms, and operating systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols.
• Desire to make an impact and thrive in collaborative environments; strong ownership and drive.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Programming languages:
  Java, Python, Go, JavaScript/Type Script.
• Experience with AI/ML frameworks is a significant asset.
• 3-5+ years developing and shipping enterprise distributed or cloud-native systems.
• Production experience with cloud and ML technologies.
• Experience with containers and orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker).
• Understanding of distributed systems architecture.
• Experience with build automation and CI/CD tools (Git, Jenkins, Maven, Ansible, etc.).
• Experience with observability tools and practices.
• Experience with Generative AI modeling and deploying LLMs at scale is a plus.

The FA Technical Architecture / Spectra team in the UK is based in Bristol. Flexible working arrangements are available including in-office, hybrid and remote, depending on circumstances and manager approval.
