Altera Recruitment is partnering with an innovative clean‑energy technology company developing breakthrough processes that convert difficult waste streams into low‑carbon fuels and carbon‑rich by‑products. Their patented systems enable carbon‑negative energy production and are now entering a major scale‑up phase following new investment and successful grant funding. This is an opportunity to join a small fast‑growing team shaping the future of sustainable energy.

This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early‑career researcher seeking hands‑on experience in an R&D setting. You’ll work closely with the Lead Chemist to support day‑to‑day laboratory operations, run analytical equipment, assist with prototype testing and contribute to ongoing research projects.

• Support laboratory operations including COSHH updates, stock checks and equipment scheduling.
• Prepare and analyse gas, liquid and solid samples using a range of chemistry techniques.
• Assist with experimental trials on thermochemical and purification systems.
• Help interpret analytical data using software tools and modelling packages.
• Contribute to technical reporting for internal projects, collaborations and funded programmes.

• Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering or a related field with 2 years experience.
• Practical hands‑on approach with strong attention to detail and confidence following laboratory procedures.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within technical teams.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Office and able to learn laboratory/analytical software quickly.
• Familiarity with analytical equipment, COSHH or risk assessment processes or a willingness to develop these skills.
