The Role

Own your career, and you can build something to be proud of at Balfour Beatty. By joining our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as a Quality Management Lead (HVAC) on the Sizewell C Project. You’ll work with true experts who’ll share their knowledge and provide support, encouragement and invaluable feedback so you never stop learning. Bring us your capability, and we’ll help you take it much, much further.

Sizewell C will create a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for at least 60 years. It will be built next to Sizewell B which began operating in 1995 and has so far avoided more than 76 million tonnes of carbon emissions.

This role will be hybrid with 1-2 days at our Bristol Aztec West office.

What you'll be doing

  • Quality Management Lead (QML) is responsible for ensuring MEHA quality requirements are complied with across the full project life cycle (Contract award, Design, Procurement, Manufacture, Test, Shipping, Construction/Installation, Test/Commission and Contract close out)
  • Your primary purpose will be to define and ensure supply-chain adherence to the contracted quality assurance and quality control requirements.
  • Support the Head of Quality, the QDM and their programme in achieving adherence with the Integrated Management System arrangements, putting in place additional project-specific arrangements as required and managing quality for all activities within the scope of the programme.
  • Be the single point of contact for all quality related elements and provide a point of independent quality escalation for programme team members to Head of Quality associated with the supply chain
  • Ensure that manufactured equipment and components conform to the contract design and technical specifications
  • Responsible for managing third party suppliers to achieve the desired programme outcomes.
  • Be a recognised advisor to others in all areas of Quality
  • Submitting regular performance reports indicating any deviations, corrective action taken and escalation of issues.
Who we're looking for
  • HNC/HND in Quality Management or degree in a relevant science or engineering subject, or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and ideally ISO 19443:2018, with demonstrable understanding of managing CFSI risk
  • Lead Auditor qualification to ISO 9001.
  • Demonstrable experience as a Quality Management Lead who has managed similar large Quality teams on large MEH construction within a highly regulated industry.
  • Proven experience in the MEH construction and acceptance process with sufficient experience to enable a good understanding of adjacent activities and through life operational issues.
  • Confident and articulate communicator, able to prepare presentation material, and comfortable addressing individuals, small groups and large audiences.
  • Able to support and implement practical solutions, whilst remaining open to the ideas of others.
  • Experience of interfacing with project teams and with supply chain organisations.
  • Analysis of data, preparing reports and making recommendations.
  • Proven experience of interaction and resolving issues with a wide range of stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment.
  • The ability to influence and to provide constructive challenge which is accepted by others
  • The ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Pro-active and flexible, being prepared to plan and work on own initiative
