Software Quality Assurance / Audit Engineer

Our client, a leader in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Engineer with a strong focus on audit, compliance, and governance to join their team in Bristol. This permanent role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a highly regulated environment, providing independent assurance across complex and mission-critical programmes.

• Conduct software quality audits and project quality assessments to ensure compliance with defined processes, policies, and standards
• Ensure adherence to internal software quality management systems and applicable national and international standards
• Provide independent oversight and assurance across multiple programmes and project activities
• Work closely with software development teams to assess process effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities
• Identify, escalated, and track quality risks, non-conformances, and critical issues
• Support governance activities and contribute to monthly quality and compliance reports
• Promote a strong quality culture and influence continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain clear, concise, and effective communication with stakeholders at all levels

• Background in software development and/or software quality assurance within a regulated environment
• Strong understanding of software lifecycle processes, governance, and compliance frameworks
• Knowledge of relevant national and international software standards
• Ability to objectively assess processes and influence change without direct authority
• Comfortable working under pressure and adapting to changing priorities
• Engineering degree (or equivalent experience)
• Experience or working knowledge of configuration management, documentation control, and requirements management systems
