At Bristol Water
, we’ve been improving health and community wellbeing since 1846. We operate nine lakes across the Bristol area, supporting drinking water supply, protecting wildlife habitats, and offering premier angling opportunities.
This practical, hands‑on fisheries role involves a variety of responsibilities:
- Support the day‑to‑day operation of a premier UK fishery
- Prepare, clean and maintain fishing boats and angling equipment
- Work at the fish farm, caring for fish stock
- Welcome anglers, check tickets and share local fishing knowledge
- Monitor fish welfare, water conditions and site safety
- Maintain banks, jetties, car parks and access points
- Protect Sites of Special Scientific Interest while sustaining recreation
- Engage positively with visitors, from regular anglers to first‑time guests
- Take responsibility for site safety and visitor satisfaction
- Act as a visible, knowledgeable presence on the water – approachable, professional and firm when required
- Salary: £27,565 – £27,565 per year (pro rata); £13.95 per hour equivalent
- Fixed‑term contract until late November 2024
- 30 or 38 hours per week, 4 or 5 days
- Two weekends out of three and bank holidays included
- Mix of early starts at 7 am and late finishes at sunset plus one hour
We want anglers who want to turn their passion into a meaningful season of work. You’ll fit the role if you:
- Have a genuine passion for trout, predator and reservoir fishing
- Enjoy engaging with anglers and providing great customer service
- Are practical, reliable and comfortable with physically demanding outdoor work
- Can work confidently in all weather conditions
- Work well alone and as part of a team
- Are approachable and professional, yet firm when necessary
- Take responsibility for public safety, fish welfare and our assets
- Are proactive, observant and able to use initiative
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Have a good level of physical fitness
Formal fisheries qualifications are not essential – real‑world angling knowledge and attitude matter more.
