gap personnel acting as an employment business are currently recruiting a Maintenance Engineer for a manufacturing business, based in Bristol, BS15. Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production equipment
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and implementing effective repairs to minimise production downtime
  • Record all maintenance activities accurately within the maintenance management system
  • Maintain and repair mechanical systems such as bearings, shafts, gearboxes, drives, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Carry out basic electrical fault-finding and repairs (e.g. motors, sensors, switches, control panels) within competency limits.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and modification of machinery and equipment.
  • Identify recurring faults and recommend permanent corrective actions.
  • Contribute to equipment reliability improvements and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Support lean manufacturing and 5S activities within the engineering and production areas.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and fault diagnosis.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.
