OverviewTurner & Townsend is a leading consultancy provider to the Energy and Natural Resources sector. We are recruiting a Logistics Project Manager to undertake a key role on a high profile, South West based Energy Infrastructure project. The Logistics Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the management of material and equipment logistics, ensuring the smooth flow of materials from their arrival at various warehouses across the South West to the construction site.
This role involves seamless coordination of material deliveries, aligning distribution activities with project timelines, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. The role drives operational efficiency and streamlines material delivery processes, which are essential for meeting construction milestones and effectively allocating resources. The position requires logistics management skills, preferably with a background in supply chain operations, and the ability to address logistical challenges.
responsibilities
- Distribution Strategy:
Oversee and optimize the material distribution strategy. - Coordination:
Ensure seamless coordination of material deliveries to designated areas within the construction site. - Safety and Compliance:
Maintain safety and compliance standards in logistics operations. - Operational Efficiency:
Drive operational efficiency and streamline material delivery processes. - Performance Monitoring:
Monitor performance and compliance of the 3rd Party Logistics organisations. - Issue Resolution:
Address logistical challenges, manage escalations, and provide strategic guidance.
- Logistics Management:
Experience in logistics management within construction or similar large-scale projects, or experience managing projects with logistics challenges. - Supply Chain Operations:
Background in supply chain operations and team leadership, or experience working with and managing suppliers. - Compliance:
Familiarity with safety and compliance standards in a warehouse or construction environment. - Problem-Solving:
Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. - Communication:
Ability to communicate complex issues to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Organizational
Skills:
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Degree qualified or industry experience in a construction or energy related subject. Ideally logistics expertise in a complex, highly regulated industry.
