Principal ResponsibilitiesAs part of the Field Services Team for Aqualogic, you will begin your journey as a Water Quality Flushing Technician, gaining an understanding of the clean water distribution network, which is fundamental to human health.
Water scarcity, driven by population growth and climate change, presents a significant opportunity to advance in the Water Sector, and Aqualogic has opportunities for candidates to join our thriving field services team, delivering services to a range of private and public‑sector customers across the United Kingdom.
Candidates must possess a driving license & be willing to work across the Wessex Water region (Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire). Work will primarily be focused on the Taunton / Yeovil areas.
The successful candidate will be principally required to undertake Water Quality Flushing‑related tasks; however, during periods of drought, there may be a requirement to participate in other water network‑related activities, as directed by the client.
The water quality flushing programme aims to reduce customer contacts regarding discolouration in the clean water network. It is part of a broader program to improve overall water network management and improve customer experiences.
MAIN DUTIES- Working with the existing Wessex Water mains flushing team to complete the annual program of planned water quality flushing interventions to reduce the impacts of discolouration for Wessex Water customers.
- Providing systematic flushing of the clean water mains network in accordance with pre‑planned schedules.
- Ensure all activities are completed in compliance with industry water hygiene and health and safety requirements.
- Operation of supply network valves and hydrants utilising calm network principles to achieve the desired flow rates.
- Carrying out continuous monitoring of water turbidity and chlorine levels alongside flow rates and volumes.
- Ensuring the appropriate pollution awareness and prevention measures are applied throughout operations.
- Organised, logical, and with the ability to work accurately whilst maintaining high‑quality standards and customer care focus.
- Good time keeping, reliable and hard working
- Some knowledge of clean water distribution networks and flushing is desirable
- The ability to prioritise tasks and manage their workload effectively
- Good ‘Digital Literacy’, especially the use of Microsoft packages (Microsoft Excel)
- A strong team player who places emphasis on collaborative working and knowledge sharing
- Self‑motivated individual with an eye for detail and a focus on customer service.
- Be able to work outdoors in all conditions, including at night.
- Full training with the opportunity to attain nationally recognised qualifications.
