Housing Finance Solicitor / Associate – 3-5 PQE (Bristol or Birmingham)
Join us at Bevan Brittan LLP as we continue to grow. We are recruiting an Associate to join our Property (Housing Finance and Portfolio) team, based in either our Bristol or Birmingham office, with flexible hybrid working. The team advises Registered Providers and Lenders nationwide on security charging, portfolio transactions and mortgage projects.
What the role involves- Assisting with large security charging and due‑diligence projects, including drafting and negotiating Certificates of Title, title reports and rectifying works to perfect security for charging.
- Managing and supervising smaller property finance and portfolio transactions under partner supervision.
- Supporting junior fee earners in the preparation of properties for mortgage, purchase or sale, and supervising their work.
- Drafting and negotiating condition‑precedent documentation required by lenders or security trustees.
- Compiling high‑level and detailed title reports for asset‑management sales and acquisitions.
- Project‑managing junior fee earners for large‑scale title and search reviews, bulk Land Registry applications, title rectification and general transaction management.
- Managing data collation and storage via digital portals and assisting with our legal‑tech systems for security and portfolio acquisitions.
- Engaging in business‑development activities such as client events, training, conferences, and drafting articles.
- Supporting Partners with pitches, bids and tenders.
The successful candidate will have:
- Property finance and/or property portfolio transaction experience – training will be provided.
- Previous experience with Registered Providers or lenders in the housing sector and a demonstrated interest in the social‑housing market would be an advantage.
- Strong organisational and project‑management skills, with the ability to supervise juniors and lead smaller transactions.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills for large‑scale project work, proactive initiative and responsibility to deliver on time.
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately in reviewing and drafting condition‑precedent documents, certificates of title, title due‑diligence, property tables, disclosures, searches and indemnity insurance policies.
- Experience using the Land Registry portal, Mapsearch and web‑based data services; knowledge of legal‑tech/Gen‑AI a plus but not essential.
- Collaborative, enthusiastic, curious and willing to learn and support the team.
- Experience in billing and financial management of transactions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
