Role OverviewOur Professional & Financial Risks team (PFR) is part of RPC’s Insurance group, serving a well‑established client base of Professional Indemnity insurers and the insureds. The team defends liability claims against various professionals, including solicitors, insurance brokers, accountants, and financial advisers, handling both pre‑ and post‑litigation matters. We also provide advice on regulatory issues, risk management, Ombudsman complaints, and policy coverage aspects, and frequently advise insurers on claim coverage.
The team acts for major professional services firms and is top ranked in Professional Negligence by Chambers & Partners and Legal 500.
The successful candidate will work alongside partners and lawyers within a vibrant and growing team. The work is varied, challenging and offers autonomy, handling cases with values ranging from tens of thousands to multi‑million pounds.
You will have the opportunity to get involved with business development and client initiatives, including:
- Managing a caseload of Professional Indemnity claims, including coverage issues.
- Delivering high‑quality, timely output to clients while meeting service level agreements.
- Contributing to the development and improvement of the team’s service, support, processes and procedures.
- Demonstrating the values and behaviours that keep the team client‑focused.
- Capturing and collating required Management Information in accordance with agreed practice for clients.
- 0–4 years of PQE or equivalent relevant expertise.
- Strong grounding in litigation experience; insurance experience desirable but not essential.
- Able to deliver legal and commercial solutions and establish collaborative relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Committed to business development to further grow your network and the practice.
- Ability to work efficiently and commercially, understanding the importance of financial hygiene.
- Committed to being part of a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative firm culture.
- Good knowledge of legal procedures and excellent communication skills (both oral and written).
- Able to adapt to shifting priorities and adjust plans accordingly.
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, flexibility, and high confidentiality and integrity standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
