Salary: £55,000 to £80,000 (depending on experience)
A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Associate to join its Private Law Children and Domestic Abuse team in Bristol. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a supportive and purpose-driven environment, delivering high-quality legal advice while contributing to the growth of a respected family law practice.
The RoleYou’ll manage a caseload of legal aid and privately funded matters, advising clients on sensitive and complex issues with care and commercial awareness. You’ll also play an active role in business development, helping to grow the team's profile and client base through networking, marketing, and sector engagement.
Key responsibilities include:- Managing a caseload of private law children and domestic abuse matters
- Advising clients on options, outcomes, risks, and timescales
- Scoping fees and managing budgets for client matters
- Supporting junior lawyers with technical and business guidance
- Building internal and external networks of clients and intermediaries
- Attending networking events and contributing to marketing initiatives
- Developing niche or sector expertise
- Participating in team pitches and collaborative projects
- Tracking progress against KPIs and contributing to risk management
- 5+ years PQE in family law, with experience in private law children and domestic abuse
- Strong client management and communication skills
- Ability to manage own files and delegate effectively
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to risk
- Desire to mentor junior colleagues and contribute to team development
- Interest in building a personal and departmental profile
