We are looking for an experienced system administrator to join a team in Gloucester. This senior role is heavily focused on hands‑on work rather than leadership. You will have the support of senior leadership and the freedom to contribute to project work and the technical direction of the business. The right candidate will not be afraid to make recommendations for better approaches, keeping best practice and documenting solutions to boost team efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a hybrid environment – Azure and Hyper‑V
- Implement IAM solutions – Active Directory and Entra ; apply Zero Trust principles, conditional access, and MFA
- Coordinate with third‑party support – MSP and SOC
- Maintain cybersecurity and secure high‑performance environments
- Ensure regulatory compliance – GDPR, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials+
- Oversee DR and backup processes
- Document best practices, future‑proof standards, and maintain a knowledge base
- Provide a small amount of on‑call support, compensated as time off in lieu (no extra weekly hours)
- Microsoft Azure system administration
- Azure VM – scalable and secure solutions, VNet design
- Vendor management
- Virtualisation expertise
- Windows Server administration
- Active Directory, Entra , group policy, and configuration
- Cloudflare
- DNS, DHCP, VPN
- Power Shell
- Azure certifications
- Cloudflare certifications
- ITIL V3 or V4 certification
