Junior Service Now Developer
Client: Major UK Retail Organisation
Platform: Service Now
Focus: CMS, Service Portal, Front-End Development, Quality & Testing
Role OverviewThe Junior Service Now Developer will support the design, development, and testing of Service Now CMS and Service Portal solutions within a regulated retail environment. The role is delivery-focused, working under the guidance of senior developers and architects, and adhering to established change and governance frameworks.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong web development fundamentals, an eagerness to learn Service Now best practices, and a commitment to quality, compliance, and documentation.
Key Responsibilities Service Now Development- Develop and configure Service Now CMS and Service Portal components in line with user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Build and maintain front-end components using HTML, CSS, Java Script , and Service Now widgets.
- Follow Service Now best practices
, coding standards, and Post Office development guidelines. - Support enhancements across related Service Now modules as required.
- Perform unit testing for all developed components.
- Contribute to automated testing where applicable (
ATF experience desirable
). - Participate in peer code reviews and ensure code passes quality gates prior to promotion.
- Assist with the development and testing of integrations between CMS and other Service Now modules or external systems
. - Support promotion of code across environments (DEV, TEST, PROD) following change controls.
- Produce clear technical documentation for developed solutions.
- Support knowledge transfer activities to BAU and support teams to ensure ongoing maintainability.
- Complete mandatory Post Office compliance training within required timescales.
- Complete Change Excellence Framework training where applicable.
- Adhere to the Post Office change methodology throughout the engagement.
- Experience with Service Now development
, particularly Service Portal or CMS - Strong HTML, CSS, Java Script skills
- Understanding of web accessibility and responsive design
- Familiarity with Agile delivery and user story–based development
- Ability to follow defined development standards and processes
- Service Now ATF (Automated Test Framework)
- Experience supporting integrations (REST APIs, data sources)
- Exposure to regulated or enterprise-scale environments
- High-quality Service Now code that meets acceptance criteria
- Unit-tested components passing peer review and quality gates
- Documented solutions successfully handed over to BAU
- Compliance with all mandatory training and change governance
