Position: Employment & HR Consultant

Overview

Ashfords is seeking an experienced Employment and HR Consultant to join our Employment and HR team in Bristol. You will be part of our HR Consultancy, supporting clients through an advice-line service where each matter is handled as an individual case.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality HR and employee relations advice across a broad range of issues, including disciplinary and grievance matters, performance management, long-term sickness absence, and redundancy processes.
  • Ensure clients feel supported, informed, and confident at every stage by delivering advice via telephone and email, drafting clear and practical documentation, and assisting with the review, update, and development of HR policies and procedures in line with current employment law.
  • Deliver an advisory service focused on clear, sound guidance during client conversations. Outcomes are client-led, with advice delivered to support informed decision-making.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships to become a key point of contact for clients, helping them navigate complex HR challenges with practical, compliant solutions aligned to their business objectives.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the consultancy by sharing insights and supporting continuous improvement across processes and ways of working.
  • Work part-time (3.5 days per week) with core days Sunday (half day) and Monday, offering flexibility alongside varied and rewarding HR cases.
Who You Are
  • Experienced HR professional, ideally with a CIPD Level 5 qualification and at least 3 years of experience in a similar HR or employee relations role.
  • Thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and enjoy tackling complex employee relations matters, providing clear, practical advice that clients can trust.
  • Highly organised, detail-focused, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to handle sensitive information with discretion; committed to delivering high-quality HR solutions aligned with employment law and client priorities.
  • Confident in managing cases from start to finish, supporting clients through processes and investigations, and helping update policies and procedures.
