Staff Nurse - Discharge Lounge

An exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Nurses to join the discharge lounge team within the Clinical site team, Trust Services. The lounge offers a 24/7 service with 6 beds overnight for next day discharges, a weekend discharge service and same‑day discharges. The lounge sees on average 400+ patients per month. It provides a safe, comfortable environment for patients awaiting discharge to maintain flow and free beds for emergency and elective patients.

The ideal candidate possesses strong teamwork ethic, confidence to work independently, good communication skills to liaise with wards, clinical site team, hospital discharge team, transport and pharmacy. Nurses must work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment and can work without direct supervision.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop organisational and management skills and participate in developing and implementing change in the discharge lounge.

• Provide high standard of patient care, assist with assessment, planning, implementation of safe, efficient patient discharges.
• Work as a member of the department to provide a quality service to all users of the service.
• Work as part of the multi‑disciplinary team working closely with the CSM team, pharmacy and transport.
• Must be able to work without direct supervision.
