Job Overview
- Conduct initial assessments of patients referred to the physiotherapy pathway, identifying individual needs and creating tailored treatment plans focused on increasing daily activity.
- Design, deliver, and adapt specialist care programmes for patients with complex medical and social needs, integrating weight management and health-related exercise advice.
- Provide compassionate, holistic, and non-judgemental care aligned with the ethos of the lifestyle programme, supporting clients through behaviour change and lifestyle modification.
- Facilitate educational group sessions in community settings, promoting increased physical activity and sustainable lifestyle changes.
- Monitor and evaluate physiotherapy programmes to ensure optimal patient outcomes, contributing to service evaluation and design.
Main duties of the job
- Patient outcomes, contributing to service evaluation and design.
- Engage in clinical research and audit activities to maintain evidence-based practice and inform service development.
- Support the Service Manager in supervising and training junior and non-registered staff, ensuring clarity of roles and competence in delegated duties.
- Promote a culture of accountability and clinical governance across the team.
- Deliver expert clinical care for patients living with obesity, including advanced musculoskeletal assessments and autonomous decision-making.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the BNSSG network to ensure integrated care delivery.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
- To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous highly specialist physiotherapy practitioner
- To demonstrate physical ability to carry out assessment and interventions including manual therapy techniques and therapeutic handling
- To perform highly specialist physio therapeutic examination and assessment of patients with diverse musculoskeletal complex physical and psychological conditions and provide a diagnosis using appropriate physiotherapy tools based upon advanced theoretical knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology often in situations where conflicting evidence is present
- To set appropriate realistic and individualised therapy goals
- To develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme based on the above
- To constantly re-examine the patients response to treatment and modify programme accordingly. Examination/assessment skills to include communication, physical, manual and analytical/evaluative abilities to a very high standard
- To flexibly plan and organise own time and lead on organisation of team rota to include patient care, training, supervision and meetings
- To demonstrate physical ability to carry out physiotherapy assessment and interventions including manual therapy techniques and therapeutic handling
- To demonstrate highly developed dexterity, co-ordination and palpatory sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients
