Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

This role gives the opportunity for professional development, supervision of staff and involvement in service development.
We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for stroke rehabilitation and team working to join us and help to develop the provision of specialist communication and swallowing rehab.
Main duties of the job- To provide specialist speech and language therapy assessment, diagnosis and treatment to adults with communication and swallowing problems within the adult SLT service and stroke team
- To work independently with the support and supervision of clinical leads
- To work in patients' homes and community
- To work as an integrated member of the SLT team and stroke team
- To work with members of the multidisciplinary stroke team, including nursing, therapists and assistant staff
- To be involved in ongoing training to the multidisciplinary team.
- To be part of a wider network of SLTs in Sirona including peer supervision and support
- To receive clinical and operational leadership from the Clinical Specialist SLT for stroke

Person Specification Qualifications- HCPC registered/RCSLT member
- Educated to degree or equivalent (SLT)
- Specialist knowledge and experience of a wide range of therapeutic models of working with communication disorders and dysphagia in adults with neurological and medical conditions
- Experience of working as core member of MDT
- Experience supervising junior staff
- Advanced dysphagia skills:
Independent working with patients with complex dysphagia in a range of acute settings/ with multiple aetiologies - Excellent organisational skills
- E xperience of working with adults with communication / swallowing disorders after stroke in a community setting
