Practice Plus Group are now hiring a Ward Clerk to join our admin team at our Emersons Green Hospital in Bristol. Your strong administration skills and keen eye for detail will be key in this role as you manage all administrative duties within the ward department. You will liaise with both patients and clinicians to ensure smooth processes. Ideally you will have some experience of working in administration and managing multiple deadlines across the month.
It goes without saying you will have excellent computer and communication skills and enjoy working as part of a wide and varied team. The Ward Clerk will manage all administrative procedures within the ward. Provide a prompt, courteous service to patients, visitors, and members of the clinical team. Liaise with other departments throughout the hospital to ensure processes are in place and efficient.
- To ensure patient folders are on the ward and prepared prior to admission.
- To track medical records electronically from the ward to other departments.
- To ensure discharge packs are available at all times for the nursing staff.
- To ensure all patients complete the patient satisfaction questionnaire prior to discharge.
- Deal with all general enquiries from patients, relatives and clients liaising with the Ward Manager/Nurse in charge as appropriate.
- Answer the 24 hour helpline, seeking advice from clinical staff if required and recording the call on the patients' ICP.
- Input clinical audit data onto the Maxim Electronic Patient Record system.
- Input clinical outcomes data onto the Electronic Patient Record.
- Input National Joint Registry Information onto the database.
- Update nurse handover sheets.
- Attend ward meetings and take minutes when requested.
- Maintain an accurate filing system of all stationery required, ordering at the correct time each week.
- To answer the telephone, take telephone messages accurately and pass on to the relevant person.
- Inform nursing staff when patients are to be taken to the theatre area and when patients are ready to be collected from the recovery area.
- Obtain patient record files when requested by a doctor or one of the nursing team.
- To ensure that patient record files are stored in accordance with data protection.
- Manage the onsite stock control process of all stock required by ward.
- Actively participate in monthly/quarterly stock audits, clinical governance reviews and CQC inspections.
- Ensure the electronic bed board is accurate, booking patient beds once theatre date has been decided.
- Ensure self pay/insured patients are identified and allocated single room on bed board.
- To perform the daily emergency/resus test call, recording number of response from clinical staff.
- Report and log faults to CBRE/Althea.
- Good standard of education.
- Computer literate.
- Formal qualification in business administration is desirable.
- Substantial relevant administration experience including stock control.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements.
- Experience gained in a similar setting.
- Healthcare experience.
- Knowledge of surgical items.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements.
- Good communication both verbal and written.

- Good interpersonal skills.

- Salary: £25,104.38.
