About the Role
Working as part of a four‑strong reception team to act as the first point of contact for all patients and visitors entering the hospital, ensuring all communications are conducted in a professional and courteous manner to support a patient‑cent专业istic approach.
Part‑time: 2 days (15 hours) per week on rotation with an additional 2 Saturdays to be worked each month.
Hours:
6 am‑2 pm / 8 am‑4 pm / 1 pm‑9 pm. Max. 2 Saturdays a month (4‑hour shifts) between 6 am‑6 pm.
- Help support the reception service to patients, staff and visitors, meeting and greeting all arrivals in a professional and customer/patient‑centred approach in line with Practice Plus Group standards.
- Answer telephone calls from patients, GP surgeries and other hospital staff on general queries.
- Use the computer system to record patient attendance within the hospital.
- Process patient discharge summaries and update the clinical system.
- Contact patients with their attendance time for cataract surgery.
- Maintain the "Did Not Attend" register and inform patients of the process.
- Ensure opening and closing procedures are followed.
- Process daily mail – incoming and outgoing.
- Maintain the car parking pass allocation register.
- Provide help to the admin function when required.
- Be flexible to work shift patterns, including evenings and weekend working to cover for colleagues.
- Satisfactory Occupational Health Clearance for the role specified.
- Satisfactory relevant CRB clearance.
- Excellent IT skills.
- Literate and numerate.
- Good након command of written and spoken English.
- Excellent telephone technique.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal with difficult situations in a calm manner.
- Good keyboard/computer skills.
- Conversant with Microsoft Office packages.
- Good skills using patient administration systems or equivalent.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work flexibly within the needs of the service.
