This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated tree professional to join our brilliant tree-planting team and make a real difference for people and nature.
What will I be doing?You will:
- Be part of our ash dieback and canopy recovery programme.
- Identify opportunities to plant trees in public realm spaces including the highway, parks and green spaces, supporting Bristol's ambition to increase tree canopy, see Bristol Tree and Woodland Strategy.
- Collaborate with partners including the Bristol Tree Forum, Trees for Streets, Forest of Avon and Great Western Forest, as we progress tree planting in the city.
- Engage communities in tree planting including consultations to ensure that tree planting is appropriate and welcome.
- Prepare specifications for tree planting including for larger stock trees in more urban locations requiring engineering solutions and instruct contractors in planting.
- Manage existing funds for tree planting and be part of a team approach to attract additional funds.
- Support our One Tree Per Child community tree planting programme.
We are looking for someone with at least a NVQ 4 qualification (e.g. Higher National Diploma) in arboriculture, or a landscape discipline or equivalent.
You will have direct experience of developing and delivering tree planting in an urban setting, including experience of delivering engineering solutions and best practice approaches to tree planting and establishment.
You will be experienced in public consultation and in engaging communities to support tree planting.
You will be familiar with commissioning and contracting work. You will be enthusiastic and motivated and be able to work as part of a team.
