Position: (AL836) Group Accountant-Germany

Our client is an acquisitive multisite operation with a turnover of circa £1.5 Bn, planning to grow organically and through acquisitions to £2 Bn over the next few years. The business has expanded into Europe with acquisitions over the last couple of years and is now looking to make its first acquisition in Germany. This role will offer a broad mix of responsibilities and will work within the Group Finance function, initially supporting the integration of the new German business and then acting as the conduit between the team in Germany and the UK group function.

It will take ownership of consolidated management accounts, consolidated forecast, balance sheet and support with audit and financial statements.

Responsibilities
  • Consolidated management accounts
    • Prepare the consolidated management accounts and commentary pack within the monthly timetable, including support in managing and completing the monthly group reporting process for German subsidiaries
    • Post adjustments and manage group company and consolidations
    • Prepare the quarterly reporting for bank finance lenders
    • Prepare acquisition and technical accounting entries along with supporting papers for auditors
    • Prepare consolidated group forecasts
    • Ad hoc set‑up and integration of new companies when acquired
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and reviews
    • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations for key complex/consolidation accounts
    • Perform reviews of group balance sheets on an ad hoc basis and challenge/follow up as required
  • Statutory audit
    • Prepare acquisition and other accounting papers as required
    • Prepare goodwill, investment schedules and impairment assessments
    • Work with fellow Group Accountant and other teams in the preparation of statutory accounts and disclosures across a number of jurisdictions
    • Provide other support in the Group audit process as required
  • Other
    • Support the consolidated budget process as required
    • Continually identify process improvement opportunities within the finance function and implement them
    • Provide ad hoc technical accounting support across the business, including implementation of group‑wide accounting policies
    • Other ad hoc support and projects as required and determined by Group Reporting Manager

A salary of £55,000‑£65,000 is on offer plus benefits.
