Payroll Finance Technician

Job Overview

• Liaising with the relevant Group Finance teams regarding payroll deductions and balance sheet queries.
• Investigate queries from our balance sheet controls and find solutions independently.
• Help manage the emails in relation to all banking and finance queries.
• Prepare payroll journals for the finance department using payroll reports to ensure accurate entry into the general ledger.
• Run a set of monthly compliance reports and analyse and conclude from the data reporting back to management.
• Reconcile and monitor bank accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Manage over payments, including informing ex-colleagues of over payments, responding to subsequent queries, and making records of this process accurately.
• Hold strong working knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, NI, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.) and auto-enrolment rules.
• Any other tasks as directed.

Essential

• Able to work to a high degree of accuracy.
• Excellent IT skills, including strong Excel and mathematical skills.
• Clear and confident communication skills.
• Ability to build strong working relationships across teams and collaborate to resolve queries.
• A strong team ethic.
• Confident in dealing with a high-volume workload with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Flexible approach to work and a positive attitude to taking on new tasks.

Desirable

• Knowledge of balance sheet reconciliations and journal knowledge.
• Experience of responding to and monitoring over payments queries.
• Knowledge of Dayforce and Oracle systems.
