FP&A Specialist - 12‑Month Contract
Bristol (2 days on‑site, 3 days WFH) £400-£550 per day (Umbrella) - Inside IR35
A leading defence organisation is looking for an experienced FP&A Specialist to cover a 12‑month maternity contract. The role is ideal for someone with strong Power BI skills who can support ongoing automation and deliver high‑quality financial insight.
Key Responsibilities
Produce short‑ and long‑term financial forecasts
Lead the annual indirect budgeting process and Annual Operating Plan
Deliver variance analysis, financial modelling and ad‑hoc project support
Prepare executive‑level presentations and financial reporting packs
Partner with senior stakeholders across the business
Develop and enhance reporting through Power BI
Lead Business Unit financial reporting (routine and non‑routine)
Prepare monthly Short Term Forecasts (STF) with supporting schedules
Analyse indirect rate development, modelling and variance analysis
Provide independent assessment of performance vs plan
Support programme reviews and senior management presentations
Monitor indirect budgets and rate forecasts
Build financial models, dashboards and forecasting tools
Analyse trends in orders, sales, cost of sales, profit and cash
Act as the main point of contact for all Business Unit reporting submissions
Skills & Experience
Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACMA, CIMA etc.) with 5+ years PQE
Strong understanding of accounting and finance principles; single‑source accounting a bonus
Proven experience with Power BI / Power Platform, including building new reports
Minimum five years in a similar FP&A role within government contracting or a related sector
Strong grasp of advanced FP&A concepts and ability to communicate clearly
Excellent analytical and data‑interpretation skills
Proactive, collaborative and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment
