Welding Quality Engineer

£40,000-£65,000

Are you ready to take ownership of high-integrity welding engineering projects in the military and nuclear sectors, driving quality and continuous improvement with real impact? Roles/Responsibilities
  • Own quality and deliverables for specialist projects, ensuring compliance with contractual, regulatory requirements
  • Lead welding coordination, including WPS/WPQRs, welder qualifications, and WD (weld-through) inspections and perform and manage NDT activities (MPI, LPI, VT) and Low Pressure Underwater (LPU) testing.
  • Develop and implement Project Quality Plans, hold/witness points, inspections, compile lifetime record packs and collaborate across engineering, purchasing, and production teams
  • Oversee fabrication and assembly processes, tracking project milestones, risks, costs, and quality impacts
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and CAPA, translating technical standards into practical shop‑floor procedures and instructions
  • Maintain and enhance ISO
    9001 Quality Management Systems, supporting the site's progression toward AS9100 and Fit for Nuclear (F4N) certification while driving continuous improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For ESSENTIAL
  • CSWIP 3.1 or PCN Level II welding inspection certification, with hands‑on NDT experience (MPI, LPI, VT)
  • Proven experience managing specialist engineering or fabrication projects in heavy manufacturing environments
Desriable
  • Strong understanding of quality management systems with practical awareness of ISO
    9001, AS9100, and Fit for Nuclear (F4N) standards
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner/APM PMQ/PMP or equivalent formal PM qualification
