Position: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Yate, UK
Hours: 37.5 per week (Mon-Fri) 9am – 5pm
Salary: Up to £45,000
Reporting in to the Global Engineering Manager, Mechanical Design Engineers are responsible for all stages of a product/specifications/approvals/conformance, from research and development to design and fabrication/manufacture, through to installation and final commissioning. You will also be providing efficient solutions to the development of processes and products, ranging from a piping solutions, small fuel storage solutions to large fuel farms facilities. Working directly and communicating effectively with project management, office lead, business development managers, production team and clients with high professional acumen.

What will you be doing as our Mechanical Design Engineer?- Assist in ensuring Western Global maintains the highest level of safety, quality, efficiency, cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Reviewing, analyze and interpret customer / supplier data and specifications.
- Perform advanced FEA and CFD simulations (linear and non‑linear) to verify structural and fluid performance, interpreting results with reference to applicable engineering codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks to ensure robust, compliant designs.
- Basic Welding and joint detailing.
- Assist in estimation of tenders.
- Liaise with suppliers, production, sales, industry experts, project managers, site engineers to establish correct application for each product.
- Provide proficient models and detailed fabrication drawings with Solid Works.
- Provide technical support and guidance to workshop fabrication teams.
- Explore opportunities to minimize cost associated with compliance needs.
- Writing reports and documentation.
- Degree qualified or equivalent (Mechanical) 3 to 5 years’ experience.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Sound time management and planning skills.
- High‑level of self‑motivation, independence, and self‑reliance.
- Highly proficient user with Finite Element Analysis Software (Preferred:
Solid Works Design and Solidworks Simulation (Various Packages)). - An understanding of manufacturing processes (welding, forming, machining etc.).
- Good attention to detail producing accurate information.
