Principal Structural Engineer

Overview

This global consultancy with a strong UK presence is seeking to appoint a Principal Structural Engineer with a strong design background to support their structural engineering team in Bristol. The team undertakes a wide variety of projects for the private and public sector, across a range of development sectors, and aims to provide integrated solutions incorporating state‑of‑the‑art design.

• Assist in the design and management of structural engineering works for major and challenging infrastructure projects in the private and public sector.
• Take individual responsibility for a range of project types, manage them independently, and serve as the client’s main point of contact.
• Lead independently and proactively on technical aspects, including preparing designs, specifications, technical approval submissions, and site supervision, while being fully conversant with industry design standards.
• Manage small teams to achieve client requirements; experience managing other design disciplines is helpful but not essential.
• Work collaboratively with senior management on research projects and innovative initiatives.
• Produce drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports throughout the design process.

• Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer with excellent communication skills.
• High calibre, enthusiastic engineer who likes a challenge and is keen to progress their career.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of structural engineering projects through proven experience.
• Strong technical knowledge, including the use of Tekla/Robot, and basic ability with Revit.
• Experience managing the design process from concept to delivery.
• Experience managing small teams; experience managing other design disciplines is helpful.
