The Senior Buyer supports the business by delivering compliant, timely and value‑driven procurement of goods and services in line with approved procurement processes. The role works closely with internal stakeholders to understand business needs, technical specifications and project requirements, translating these into effective procurement strategies.
The Senior Buyer leads sourcing activities including RFI, RFQ and tenders, applying strong technical and commercial understanding to engage with appropriate suppliers. The role contributes to the development and optimisation of the supplier base by identifying new vendors and driving value across safety, quality, delivery, innovation and cost.
With solid knowledge of commercial terms and conditions and strong SAP capability, the Senior Buyer advises on appropriate purchasing solutions (purchase orders, framework agreements or other contracting solutions) ensuring effective contract placement, compliance and actively manages and develops strategic supplier relationships.
What will you be doing- Liaise with Operations and other internal departments to identify requestor needs and requirements.
- Manage the procurement process including request for information, supplier selection, request for quotation, quote assessment and negotiation of contractual terms with legal support, issuing purchase orders in SAP and contract placement according to the established process.
- Lead procurement activity for tenders.
- Liaise with Operations to validate technical solutions.
- Source new suppliers for projects.
- Negotiate trade agreements.
- Support market analysis.
- Prepare reports ad hoc.
- Advise on proposals to optimize SRM.
- Manage a portfolio of suppliers.
- Experience in a nuclear manufacturing setting.
- Strong SAP knowledge.
- SRM experience.
- Proven experience negotiating trade agreements / SLAs.
- Knowledge of contractual terms and ability to negotiate.
- Clear understanding of risks and mitigating solutions.
- Advanced IT skills (Excel, Word).
- Commitment to high‑quality work with attention to detail.
- Ability to deliver quality results on schedule.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player.
- Commercial/technical degree, bachelor minimum level or above.
- CIPS 4 or higher.
- Confident manner, good presentation skills.
