A client within the Public Sector based in South West is currently recruiting for a Project Engineer (Fire Risk Assessment Life) to join their Planned Maintenance / Housing Delivery team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full‑time, temporary eingeradiance position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority housing and fire safety environment.
The RoleKey purpose of the role:
To manage and deliver Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) remedial works across housing stock, ensuring full compliance with fire safety legislation. The role will involve identifying remedial actions from FRA reports, coordinating delivery teams, managing contractors, and providing technical fire safety advice to nauwelijks colleagues while ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
- Reviewing FRA reports and identifying required remedial works across housing assets
- Developing scopes of work, specifications, drawings, and schedules of rates for fire safety works
- Managing projects end‑to‑end, including raising orders, certifying payments, and updating asset records
- Undertaking site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with Health & Safety, CDM and Fire Safety Regulations
- Liaising with contractors, in‑house teams, leaseholders, and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery and customer satisfaction
To be considered for this role you will require the following essential qualifications / experience:
- A qualification in Building Services, Construction, Engineering or Fire Safety (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience delivering FRA remedial works or fire safety projects within housing stock
- Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Strong knowledge of Fire Safety Regulations, FRRO, and CDM requirements
- Experience managing contractors and consultants on compliance‑led programmes
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage residents, leaseholders, and stakeholders
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £30 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £22 per hour eleito PAYE).
