Description
We are looking for an experienced M&E Quantity Surveyor to join our Private Sector consultancy team in Bristol. This exciting role will give you the opportunity to work alongside a global tech client supporting a major development in the Bristol region, using innovative construction methods during the construction phase of a large‑scale project close to the city centre.

What the role involvesAs a Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor you will take the mechanical and electrical services role in delivery from inception to completion. Working collaboratively with the client design team, colleagues and stakeholders, you will monitor and report on costs and risk throughout all stages of the project. You will support an experienced team while aiding the development of Assistant Quantity Surveyors and work on a hybrid basis from our Bristol office.
Responsibilities- Estimating and cost planning, producing feasibility studies and cost plans from minimal design information to detailed cost plans
- Preparing tender documentation packages
- Attending site visits
- Completing contract documents
- Participating in value engineering exercises
- Negotiating final accounts
- Updating and monitoring cost and revenue profiles through resource management
- Negotiating budgets with contractors
- Providing full contractual advice pre‑ and post‑contract to the design team and clients
- Settling final account packages, including claims negotiation
- Checking the quality and completeness of professional fee proposals against agreed norms and recommending improvements
- Maintaining quality assurance standards and best practice procedures across all projects
- Upholding health and safety standards and supporting environmental and social impact initiatives
- Carrying out additional duties in line with the role as required
- Ideally Chartered accreditation with post‑qualification experience
- Longstanding relevant experience in the construction industry in a similar discipline
- Ability to deliver large and complex projects through the entire project lifecycle
- Excellent technical and project knowledge
- Ability to manage fees and assist with fee bids
- Capacity to generate new work through client relationship management
- Excellent knowledge of CDM and construction health & safety
