Position:
Assistant SENDCO/HLTA (SEND & Intervention)

Location:

On site, Westbury-on-Trym BS9 3BA

Hours:

This is a full-time permanent position

Start date:

1 September 2026

We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Assistant SENDCO/HLTA to join our highly committed Learning Support team.

The postholder will work collaboratively with the SENDCO, teaching staff, pupils, and families to lead SEND interventions, support identification of need, and strengthen inclusive practice across the Prep School.

Main responsibilities include:
  • Leading and delivering Prep curriculum groups
  • Supporting the SENDCO in identifying pupils’ additional needs
  • Working with the SENDCO and class teachers to ensure pupils with SEND can access a full, well-rounded curriculum
  • Support the SENDCO in developing staff confidence and skills in adaptive teaching
  • Model inclusive strategies and effective SEND practice
  • Contribute to a shared understanding of SEND across the Prep School
To be considered for this position, we are looking for the following:
  • Applicants will have QTS and ideally will also hold relevant SEND qualifications or have undertaken specialist training
  • A background in Prep or Primary teaching with experience of working with pupils with special educational needs
  • Applicants should be confident delivering structured interventions and supporting literacy
