Are you a stylist with a story to tell and the passion to inspire? This is a unique opportunity to be part of something from the ground up. We are currently recruiting on behalf of a successful Alternative Provision school that is launching a brand-new Hairdressing department.
We are seeking one Full-Time Lecturer and one Sessional (Part-Time) Lecturer to help build this program and create a space where creativity meets second chances. You won't just be teaching techniques; you'll be the foundation for students in Year 9 to Year 11 (ages 13-16) who have found mainstream education challenging and are looking for a fresh, vocational path.
As this is a new launch, you have the chance to shape how the department grows. You will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality teaching across Levels 1-3 and Apprenticeships, helping students find their spark and build a professional future.
- Launch: Take the lead in establishing a brand-new vocational offering.
- Inspire: Use your "on-the-tools" expertise to motivate disengaged learners.
- Empower: Equip pupils with the practical knowledge and skills needed to excel in the industry.
- Create: Foster a strong interest in competitions and high-end styling to build student pride and confidence.
- Qualifications: You must hold a Level 3 Hairdressing qualification
. - The Vibe: We need motivated, dynamic, and patient individuals. A sense of humour is essential-working in Alternative Provision requires the ability to build quick rapport and handle "tough" days with a smile.
- The
Skills:
Robust hairstyling and colouring skills are a must. Experience in teaching and assessing is desirable, but your passion for the craft is what truly wins over the students. - The Commitment: You will plan outstanding lessons, maintain accurate registers, and-most importantly
- promote student welfare at every turn.
This is a rare chance to be a "founding member" of a new department where you can see the direct impact of your work. Whether you are looking for the stability of a full-time role or the flexibility of sessional hours, you'll be helping young people turn their lives around through the power of a trade.
