Job Title: Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Location: Bristol
Pay: £120 – £130 per day (dependent on experience, term-time only equivalent)
Contract: Fixed Term until 31 August 2026
Hours: Full Time, Term Time Only plus INSET days
As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll be a steady, positive presence for students who need a little extra support to thrive. You’ll help remove barriers to learning by offering tailored academic, emotional and practical support, ensuring every student feels safe, confident and able to engage fully in school life.
Working closely with class teachers, the SENDCo and external professionals, you’ll adapt your approach to meet each learner’s individual needs. Whether it’s supporting learning in the classroom, building confidence, or providing specialist care, your role will make a real and lasting difference.
What you’ll be doingSupporting individual students or small groups in and out of the classroom
Helping students access learning safely and confidently across the school day
Delivering targeted interventions, including Literacy, Numeracy, ELSA and social skills programmes
Working collaboratively with teachers, SENDCo and external professionals such as SALT or Educational Psychologists
Preparing personalised learning materials and tailored interventions
Monitoring progress, completing structured assessments and recording outcomes on systems such as Arbor or SIMS
Encouraging independence, self-esteem and positive behaviour
Contributing to the creation and review of EHCPs, personalised learning plans and SEND documentation
Providing support for students with complex needs, including personal care or medical support following appropriate training
Daily pay equivalent of £90–£130, term-time only
Enhanced CPD and access to professional networks

Recognition of continuous local authority service
This role requires fluency in spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently for extended periods.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
