Overview
University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust (Bristol site) seeks applicants for Post-F2 Clinical Education Fellows to commence in August 2026 for one year. These posts provide an ideal opportunity for the successful candidates to work in a busy inner city university hospital and be part of the Postgraduate Medical Education Faculty. Successful candidates will be actively involved in a personalised post aimed at developing the candidate’s skills and interests, including opportunities in organising and delivering undergraduate and/or postgraduate medical education and research.
Scopeand time commitment
The posts comprise 50% clinical service and 50% time to develop your CV in undergraduate and/or postgraduate medical education, research and/or service development. There may be the opportunity to spend this time in the Bristol Medical Simulation Centre, subject to interview. The post also includes home fees paid to study for a Postgraduate (PG) Certificate in Medical Education at the University of Bristol’s Health Professions Education (HLE) department.
The appointments will be subject to the Terms and Conditions of Service of Trust grade Doctors (2017) and may be subject to amendment.
Clinical duties will involve ward-based care of patients admitted with a wide range of acute cardiology problems. The post holders will join a team of 4 FY1s and 3 IMT trainees supervised by one specialty doctor and one associate specialist on the cardiology wards in the Bristol Heart Institute. Cardiology patients are mainly looked after on wards C705, C805 and CCU.
Educationalsupervision and facilities
Educational supervision will be provided by Dr Victoria North or Dr Angus Nightingale (Consultant Cardiologist and Specialty Tutor for Cardiology). The post offers access to the full range of educational opportunities provided by a large teaching hospital trust, including a state-of-the-art PGME and medical simulation centre (with library and computer centre).
Key responsibilities- Organising and helping to deliver the weekly Cardiology Journal Club
- Consultant-delivered junior doctor teaching on a Tuesday morning
- Inherit an already well-organised departmental teaching programme and be a key component in delivering teaching to undergraduate medical students and other MDT members
- Attend CMT specific teaching (90 mins on Tuesday afternoon and 1 hour on Thursday mornings) and general medical teaching (1 hour Medical Grand Round)
