Position Overview
This is an opportunity for a consultant Interventional Neuroradiologist (INR) to become the 7th consultant on an existing 24/7 stroke thrombectomy and 7/7 aneurysm coiling/haemorrhagic stroke rota in North Bristol NHS Trust.
The post holder will increase capacity to enable further development and sustainability of 24/7 stroke services and deliver continuous, equitable access to mechanical thrombectomy according to national guidelines. There will also be opportunities to develop and deliver expertise in other aspects of Neurointervention and related imaging.
Qualifications- CCT qualified or within six months of achieving CCT at the date of interview.
- Listed on the GMC’s specialist register to be eligible for application for a substantive post.
- CESR applicants welcome and must have their CESR in place at the time of interview.
- Support and develop Neurointervention as part of the neurovascular multi-disciplinary team working closely with neurosurgery and stroke neurology.
- Join the 7th INR on a 6‑week rolling rota covering mechanical thrombectomy 24 h/day, 365 days/year and aneurysm coiling 365 days/year.
- Progress the North Bristol neuroradiology and neurovascular services and undertake diagnostic neuroradiology responsibilities.
- Work closely with neuro‑intensive care colleagues and participate in the 7/7 combined neurosurgery and neuro‑intensive care MDT every morning at 8 am.
North Bristol NHS Trust provides a mechanical thrombectomy service to the South West of England and South Wales. The Trust objective is to provide 24/7 mechanical thrombectomy service to the whole of South Wales as well as the current 24/7 catchment of SW England, with projected mechanical thrombectomy numbers reaching 300/year.
