Senior Clinical Fellow in Lymphoma

The closing date is 06 February 2026

Senior Clinical Fellow - Lymphoma ST 6-8:
This post provides an exciting opportunity to gain extensive experience in the management of patients with malignant lymphoma. The post holder will provide clinical cover for patients with malignant lymphoma in both the in-patient and out-patient setting and be trained in all aspects of the management of lymphoma. The job is based in the Haematology Unit within BHOC which comprises a 25 bedded in-patient unit, Chemo Day Unit & Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) areas.

There is additionally a large out-patient department within the Bristol Cancer Institute and a Teenage and Young Adult Unit within the same building. The Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre is a tertiary referral centre for allogeneic stem cell transplantation and CAR-T cell therapy, and there is a specialist interest in stem cell transplantation in lymphoma. The post holder will be expected to play an active role in clinical research and conduct their own audit & service improvement projects and be allocated time to do this.

The postholder is also expected to participate in out-of-hours cover, on a middle-grade rota covering Saturdays & Sundays between 9 and 4 (1 in 10), and on the registrar general haematology out-of-hours rota on an ad hoc basis. The post is ideal for either haematology trainees at the end of their training or as an Out of Program training experience.

Please note that the post is a fixed post for 12 months.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within the lymphoma team, based in the Bristol Haematology & Oncology Centre (BHOC). Duties will primarily cover all aspects of the care of patients with malignant lymphoma including diagnosis, primary therapy and relapse therapy.

Non‑clinical training and responsibilities

Day to day clinical responsibilities are seen to be a significant part of the training offered to registrars and fellows, and opportunities are taken for informal clinical teaching as / when appropriate. All doctors are expected to undertake audit and to make a regular contribution to the Departmental academic programme. The formal teaching programme includes one department academic meeting (includes M&M and audit) and a registrar‑led teaching session each week.

This supplements the educational value of clinical meetings – weekly BMT planning meetings; weekly haematology MDT meetings; weekly haematology Grand Round; weekly hospital grand rounds.

Opportunities exist for participation in clinical research and there are monthly clinical trial review meetings, clinical research team and research governance meetings. Haematology laboratory experience is available within the department.
