Job Summary

£12‑14K per session, 12‑month fixed‑term maternity locum GP position at Birchwood Medical Practice.

4/5 sessions per week:
Monday‑Thursday with optional Tuesday. 15‑minute appointments, protected break times, low admin (68 docs/day), digital solutions (Heidi, Accurx, Health

Tec1).

Practice offers a supportive culture, teaching & training, on‑call support from ACP/ANP, multidisciplinary team, greener, veteran‑friendly, parkrun practice, 6 weeks annual leave + 1 week study leave, enhanced indemnity, NHS pension, cycle to work, regular socials.

• Provide high‑quality, compassionate, patient‑centred care within a supportive practice.
• Prescribe safely and effectively, manage long‑term conditions, maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records.
• Work autonomously under GMS contract and GMC guidance.
• Contribute fairly to clinical workload, including duty doctor rota.
• Engage in QOF, quality improvement, teaching, and professional development.
• Participate in multidisciplinary collaboration, fostering a positive culture.

• Registered on the NHS England list of medical practitioners (section 91 of the NHS Act 2006).
• Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) on the General Practitioner Register.
• Not prohibited from providing services due to regulation breaches.

• Interest in menopause, ADHD, transgender medicine.

• Strong clinical skills and effective time management.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, evidence of effective teamwork, willingness to develop others.
• Proficient in electronic health records and new technologies.
