Arcadis is seeking a Chartered Landscape Architect for the Architecture & Urbanism (A&U) division within the Places global business area. This position can be located in Birmingham or Manchester, UK.

Arcadis is seeking a creative, motivated and Chartered Landscape Architect to join its growing UK Landscape Architecture team. In this role, you will work on a wide range of landscape, environmental, regeneration and infrastructure projects, contributing to some of the UK’s largest and most complex developments.

You will work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, engaging with in‑house specialists and high‑profile external designers. Projects span large‑scale masterplans, new towns, public‑realm strategies, Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs), and diverse local‑level schemes across all sectors.

Role accountabilities
  • Lead and contribute to landscape design across concept, detailed and implementation stages.
  • Prepare high‑quality drawings, sketches and digital models to communicate design concepts.
  • Undertake Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA) and contribute to environmental statements.
  • Support master planning, urban regeneration and green infrastructure strategies.
  • Manage small to medium‑scale projects autonomously, including programming and resource allocation.
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project outcomes.
  • Work closely with clients, local authorities, consultants, and community groups to shape project outcomes.
  • Build strong relationships and communicate effectively through reports, presentations and meetings.
  • Adhere to the Landscape Institute’s Code of Conduct and uphold high professional standards.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing. Based on chartered standards.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI).
  • Strong design skills, including hand sketching and visual communication.
  • Experience producing LVIAs and environmental assessment work.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketch Up, and other relevant design tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrable report‑writing experience.
  • Experience in delivery of small and medium sized schemes essential, large‑scale master planning and infrastructure projects preferable.
  • Understanding of environmental planning, regeneration and sustainability principles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary settings with urban designers, engineers and planners.
