We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Communications Apprentice to join our established Communications team in Bristol on a 20‑month fixed‑term contract; the successful applicant will gain a nationally recognised Level 4 qualification in PR & Communications upon completion.

Role Overview

The Communications Apprentice will collaborate closely with the Marketing Communications team to deliver clear and effective internal communications across the organisation, while also supporting selected external initiatives. Working alongside the Internal Communications Lead, the apprentice will help ensure that all messaging is aligned with organisational priorities, delivered in a timely and relevant manner, and crafted to engage and resonate with diverse audiences.

What

will you be doing?

The Communications Apprentice will play an active role in shaping how messages are shared and received across the organisation. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Measuring impact of internal communication campaigns and adapting methods and channels to engage diverse audiences
  • Producing content for internal platforms that is clear, timely, and relevant
  • Collaborating with teams and stakeholders to deliver effective messaging that supports organisational priorities

The primary focus of the role is to strengthen the colleague experience by ensuring communication is not only delivered, but also understood, trusted, and acted upon.

In addition, the apprentice will support the external communications team with activities such as maintaining media lists, scheduling social media posts, and collating coverage to help amplify the organisation’s profile externally.

About you:

Professional qualifications

GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English

Knowledge & previous experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and Viva Engage (not essential)
  • Strong communication and planning skills
  • Experience prioritising own workload with minimal supervision
  • Stakeholder management and networking skills
  • Copywriting and editing skills
