Role descriptionAs part of a growing and agile business, our Environmental Planning team is looking for a Senior Engagement Consultant to join our stakeholder engagement team and work with us on a diverse project portfolio. You will be instrumental in helping to create flourishing and sustainable communities and places with projects including energy and infrastructure, large-scale mixed-use development schemes for both private and public clients, public realm and master planning projects.
With a minimum of five years’ experience in stakeholder engagement work, you will be people focused and passionate about delivering improved quality of life to communities and stakeholders. You will have a background in the built environment and ideally some experience in working on nationally significant infrastructure projects.
You will work collaboratively on a broad range of projects, helping to understand stakeholder aspirations, manage stakeholder relationships, promoting inclusivity and ensuring ownership as a way of bringing about change. You will be responsible for:
- Supporting the development and execution of stakeholder engagement plans to ensure that all relevant stakeholders are identified, informed, and involved in project development and delivery.
- Undertaking comprehensive stakeholder mapping and analysis to understand interests, concerns, and influence on projects and initiatives.
- Coordinating and helping facilitate stakeholder activities, including meetings, workshops, and events to gather input, share information, and build relationships.
- Working with our wider graphics and visual literacy team to create engaging and informative content for community and stakeholder engagement events and supporting material e.g. presentations. Leaflets and exhibition material.
- Assisting in monitoring and responding to stakeholder feedback, enquiries, and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Supporting the maintenance of stakeholder databases and trackers to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is accessible to relevant team members.
- Working closely with Stakeholder Leads to prepare reporting and supporting documents, including Statements of Community Involvement, Statements of Common Ground, Consultation Reports.
- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of projects and programmes, with a preference for candidates with some experience of nationally significant infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge / understanding of the UK planning system and consenting processes including Development Consent Orders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Solid organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under deadlines.
- Confident working alone or as part of a team, with ability to adapt as required.
- An understanding of best practice as it relates to stakeholder engagement.
- Attention to detail in relation to all aspects of your work, including service delivery, communications, and ways of working with others.
- Relevant degree or equivalent qualification.
