Design Manager

We're working with a reputable and growing main contractor with a strong pipeline of secured work across the South West. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Design Manager to join their team in Bristol.

This is a key role within the business, bridging pre-construction and delivery, ensuring design is coordinated, compliant, and aligned with programme and commercial objectives.

Duties include:

• Managing the design process from tender through to project completion
• Coordinating consultants, architects, and specialist subcontractors
• Reviewing drawings and technical submissions for compliance and buildability
• Leading design meetings and driving design programmes
• Identifying and mitigating design risks
• Supporting value engineering and cost-saving initiatives
• Ensuring statutory approvals and technical compliance are achieved
• Working closely with commercial and site teams to ensure smooth project delivery

The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contracting environment, ideally across commercial, residential, education, or mixed-use schemes. Strong technical knowledge, excellent coordination skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders are essential.

Experience delivering projects in the £10m-£50m range is desirable.
