Are you an experienced Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) based locally and looking for your next career move? We are representing a well-established, high-quality property consultancy with a national client base and an excellent regional reputation. Due to continued growth, they are now seeking a Senior Building Surveyor to join their busy team.
This is a hands‑on, varied role offering significant responsibility, technical challenge, and exposure to major commercial clients across offices, retail parks, industrial estates and mixed‑use commercial environments.
Role OverviewAs Senior Building Surveyor, you will manage a broad spectrum of building surveying instructions across both project and professional work streams. The position offers exposure to a diverse range of schemes and technical challenges, supported by strong client relationships and an active pipeline of work.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage full project life cycles as Contract Administrator on:
- Internal and external refurbishments
- CAT A and CAT B commercial fit‑outs
- Roof replacements and structural remedial works
- Façade repairs, cladding upgrades and compliance‑driven works
- Planned capital improvement programmes
- Small to mid‑scale development and enhancement schemes
- Projects typically range up to £10m in value.
- Deliver high‑quality professional services, including:
- Dilapidations (landlord and tenant instructions)
- Technical due diligence and pre‑acquisition surveys
- Building, condition and asset surveys
- Defect diagnosis and remedial strategy reports
- Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and lifecycle planning
- Prepare detailed technical reports, specifications, schedules of work and tender documentation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landlords, investors, property companies and asset managers.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior surveyors within the team.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across multidisciplinary project environments.
- MRICS qualified Building Surveyor with consultancy or private practice experience.
- Strong background in commercial property surveying (offices, retail, industrial).
- Broad experience delivering both professional and project‑focused services.
- Commercially aware, confident in client‑facing situations and adept at managing multiple instructions.
- Excellent technical reporting skills and attention to detail.
- Ideally reside within the local Surrey area (or within reasonable commute).
